President: Irene Zucker
Irene Zucker, President for the 2009-10 term. She has been an avid supporter of SHPE's mission for over 10 years serving on the Board in several capacities from Professional Development to Vice President. SHPE National President of the Year Award recipient. Throughout the years, she has received recognition from the DFW Chapter as a contributor and supporter of SHPE (funding, Chapter meeting place and professional workshops). As a consultant and principle of VerbaCom® Executive Development, she leverages her professional training expertise and community contacts for the career development of Chapter members (professional and student Chapters) in Engineering, Math and Science. She continuously encourages and guides members to be the best they can be. Her goal this year is to guide the DFW Chapter in becoming one of the best Chapters in the organization. She is encouraged with the Chapter's great Board of Directors who are very supportive and who are ready for the challenge. Vice President: Sandy ZuckerSandy Zucker, joined SHPE in 2007 and has been supportive to the local chapter in a Secretary and IT consultant capacity, helping with the chapter website development, membership monitoring and email distribution. He was instrumental in the preparation of the brochure and program for the First & Second Annual SHPE-DFW Conferences, and for designing the conference sign-in systems. He is VP at VerbaCom Executive Development, a professional development training company, has a Masters in Geology from the City University of New York (Brooklyn College), and has years of experience programming and working with Internet systems. His interests are to help make the chapter more responsive to the members. Treasurer: Tony ArizaSecretary: Rudy TrevinoRudy Treviño, is a Life Member of SHPE and has supported SHPE activities over the past few years. Rudy is a Principal Mechanical Engineer with Honors and has been employed for TI/Raytheon for 32 years. Rudy holds a BSME from UT-Austin and a MBA from University of Dallas. Rudy is highly active with the various Raytheon Diversity Employee Resource Groups (ERG’s) and is currently the Treasurer for HOLA (Hispanic Organization for Leadership and Advancement). Rudy is also on the DFW Airport Board of Appeals. Rudy has supported many of SHPE’s activities and this year, he would like to assist the Leadership in accomplishing these years’ goals. Professional Development: Mariano Rivera
Mariano Rivera, a Magna Cum Laude (B.S.I.E.) graduate from the University of Puerto Rico- Mayagüez Campus, joined SHPE in 1998. With over ten years of active work with SHPE, Mariano has inspired and helped college and high school students to pursue careers in Math, Science and Engineering. "I want to make sure our students feel my/SHPE commitment to their education. We are here to help them create their future. Each year SHPE-DFW awards over $4,000 on scholarships"- says Mariano. In his role with SHPE-DFW, Mariano (Account Sales Manager for Rockwell Automation) will be helping members to reach out to the local community. (Online Resume) Community Outreach: Naomi HernandezNaomi Hernandez, current Community Outreach Director, joined the Board of Directors in 2007. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Management, Information, and Systems from Southern Methodist University where she was a founding executive member of the SHPE SMU chapter. Naomi currently works in operations at Frito Lay. It is her passion to promote education in the Hispanic community, and therefore she is also currently working with the Baptist General Convention of Texas to bring Hispanic professional organizations to Hispanic Baptist youth and singles conferences. This would fulfill her vision of combining two organizations (SHPE and the BGCT) which have made a difference in her life. Communication Director: Gabe VillarrealGabriel Villarreal began his involvement with SHPE as part of the LM Aero SHPE chapter where he co-founded the Lego Lab program at JP Elder middle school in Fort Worth. He has transitioned to the DFW chapter where he continues to be involved in community outreach activities. Gabriel holds a B.S. in Computer Science and a M.S. in Software Engineering. He works in IT at PDX Inc. One of his major goals is to use his IT skills to help the chapter with online communication and social interaction. |
